It’s a new dawn as Karua party officially quits Azimio

Opposition leader Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya party yesterday officially quit the Azimio la Umoja coalition to chart its own political future ahead of the 2027 general election.

Narc Kenya’s exit from Azimio, which was ratified by the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) at the Ufungamano House was the culmination of a fallout between Karua and opposition leader Raila Odinga following the latter’s dalliance with President William Ruto.

During the NDC, the party hierarchy also ushered in a new era that is aimed at reforming leadership and ensuring commitment to good governance, integrity in the management of public affairs, justice, equality and democracy anchored in the rule of law.

Among other key reforms, the party ratified a two-term tenure for party leaders and officials who will be required to step down upon completing their term

Additionally, the party has decided to change its official colours from red and green to purple and white. Its slogan “One Kenya, One Nation, One People” remains the same.

“I want to thank the NDC for giving the leadership of Narc Kenya the mandate to rebrand the party in readiness for 2027,” Karua said while addressing the delegates.
